Creamy Collagen Hot Chocolate

Who doesn’t love a good cup of hot chocolate when it gets cold outside? Did you know that hot chocolate can actually be extremely healthy? In fact, I look at this as a staple snack that I feel like most people can benefit greatly from! Here are a few of the nourishing benefits of this hot chocolate.

Cacao

Rich in copper and magnesium, cacao is a less processed version of the more popular cocoa powder thus allowing more of the minerals to remain intake with the product. You can use cacao powder just as you would cocoa powder making this one of the easiest nutrient dense swaps you can make in your diet! I personally love Navitas Organics Cacao Powder.

Collagen

Collagen is a type of anti inflammatory protein that is rich in glycine and lacks some amino acids like tryptophan that can contribute to inflammation in the body. Consuming collagen regularly can help support gut health by repairing the lining of the gut, joint health, and even the health of other tissues like hair, skin, and nails. We can get collagen from whole food sources like bone broth, gelatin rich cuts of meat, cooking meat on the bone and taking a more nose-to-tail approach to consuming animal foods. We can also add in a quality supplement to our diet and mixx it into hot or cold liquids. I recommend Perfect Supplements Grass Fed Collagen. Use code restored10 for 10% off your order.

High Quality Dairy

Dairy had gotten a bad rap being labeled as an inflammatory food that should not be consumed beyond childhood. Unfortunately this is just not the case. Dairy provides one of the best sources of Vitamin A and K which are two vitamins that are lacking in the modern day diet. A deficiency in these nutrients can lead to plethora of issues that are not limited to thyroid dysfunction, bone density issues, Vitamin D deficiency, and a sluggish metabolism. It is crucial to note that not all dairy is created equally! Consuming a raw, local dairy is a great option. If this is not available near you, finding a low pasteurized dairy that is non homogenized and does not have added synthetic vitamins (like A and D) added is a great alternative. I personally love Kalona Supernatural.
